Hello!

Hi! My name is Madison Keel, I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Creative Media Production. During my time, I worked as a narrative/documentary film editor. Through many jobs in production and volunteer work with the Oklahoma State Department of Health, I had the opportunity to combine my passion for video production and my devotion to social equity to create videos and films spreading knowledge of prevention and inclusivity. I tell it like it is, and I value sincerity in others above all else.

What makes you feel proud?

I feel very proud of myself for graduating from university then moving to California. Completing my Bachelor's degree during a global pandemic required great deals of  time, energy, and focus. Similarly, uprooting myself to start fresh halfway across the country allowed me to exhibit and harness my bravery, resilience, and ambitious tendencies. Finishing school and beginning this new chapter of my life has been a difficult but extremely worthwhile adventure.

What's your favorite thing about your career?

The thing I love most about media production is getting to collaborate with people and places to tell compelling stories. Excitingly, I worked as an associate editor on a 48-hour short film called Leak (2022), which was accepted into the Festival de Cannes Short Film Corner, Dances with Film Festival, and Circle Cinema Film Festival in 2023! I'm very proud of how well this project has done, and I can’t wait to see where else it goes!

What do you stand for?

With the understanding that all people are redeemable and worthy of compassion, I believe in utilizing prevention education to end cycles of violence towards marginalized communities in America. I find purpose through being an educator, advocate, and aspiring ally standing with those whose voices have been historically and socially silenced.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

In the next year of my life, I plan to continue working in Los Angeles, building a network of fellow creatives, and trying new things. I know adulthood will still allow for continuous moments of learning, and I can't wait to see how much I can grow in one year's time!
